Alongside private clients Ben has worked with artists, sculptors, designers and architects to make their dreams a reality in stone. We are happy to undertake letter carving, memorials, sculptures, stone signage, carved objects and much more. We also create sculptures for artists working from their own maquettes and bespoke promotional items for businesses or special events. Alongside teaching the age old skill of stone carving the backbone of The Dorset Stone Carver is the crafting of memorials. Whether a small plaque or a large free standing headstone is required we are ready to help guide you through the entire process. From initial sketches and ideas, dealing with churchyard committees, through to completing the work and installing in a churchyard.

The norm these days is to use CNC routers and computers to engrave letters but at TDSC Ben hand draws and carves every detail using traditional techniques whilst still being competitive on price.  As a rough guide memorials range from around £500 for a simple tablet or plaque up to £3500 for more involved headstones involving lettering and carved elements. We try to use local limestone when possible such as Portland or Purbeck but can source any materials you wish.
